About Ashford Federation of Arts
Ashford Federation of Arts (AFA) was registered as a Charity, No 283622, in 1981 to foster and promote the maintenance, improvement and development of artistic taste and knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the arts among the inhabitants of the Borough of Ashford.
AFA aims to promote visual and performing arts within the Borough and to support the activities of member groups.
AFA is an umbrella organisation with a multi-arts basis. Membership currently consists of around 30 local arts organisations.
AFA aims to promote knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the arts within the Borough of Ashford. It acts as co-ordinator between members and the appropriate departments and committees of Ashford Borough Council.
Aims:
To foster and promote maintenance, improvement and development of artistic taste in an ever changing cultural society
To promote knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the arts within the Borough of Ashford
Objectives:
To act as co-ordinating body between member groups
To act as liaison between groups and individuals, and appropriate officers and departments/committees of the local Borough Council
To assist groups to promote public events within the widening range of the arts.
To enable a growing population to benefit from the work of creative artists in all arts
